Scenario 7: Reign of Fire

Initiation Location: Clear Last Scenario, enter the Frozen Lake

Scene 1:

Scene Location: The Snowy Plains

- On your journey towards the Frozen Lake, you catch sight of a little elf dressed in burnt clothes running towards you. As he nears you, he collapses to the ground. -
Jimon: What’s that?
- Elaro recognizes the elf as one of his kin, and rushes to its aid. -
Elaro: Vinka! You’re wounded! Are you hurt? What happened?
- Vinka raises her arm towards Elaro -
Vinka: Reign... of fire.
- Vinka gasps for air. -
Vinka: Beware... the reign of fire!
- After those last words, Vinka remained silent. Elaro opens her hand and finds an amulet in her palms.
- Elaro silently mourns the loss of his friend for a moment, before uttering his next choice of words -
Elaro: Vinka... by the wrath of Amour, you shall be avenged.
- Elaro stands up and wanders off. -
Nuri: Elaro! Where are you headed?
Elaro: To avenge my beloved daughter!
Jimon: But vengance is not the answer! You must embrace your fallen loved one and-
- Elaro glares viciously at Jimon, and Jimon falls silent. -
Elaro: What does an egg know of the pain and suffering I am going through! My daughter is lost, scattered beyond the winds, and there is nothing I can do to bring her back. I will avenge her!
- You and Nuri cannot help but feel sorry for Elaro. -
Nuri: Elaro...
- Elaro begins to well tears as he speaks -
Elaro: I will avenge my beloved Vinka! And I will make them pay for what they’ve done!
Elaro: To the Frozen Lake! I will bring death upon his reign of terror!

Scene 2:

Scene Location: The Frozen Lake

- You leave behind the plains of snow, and come across a lake filled with boiling water. In front of you, you spot a familiar dragon who was being pampered by little elves and creatures alike. -
Nuri: This is not right...
Jimon: All those poor creatures are suffering! And that dragon isn’t doing a thing about it!
Elaro: No! The dragon has enslaved my kindred! And I’m going to stop him!
- Elaro jumps into the lake of boiling water and swims furiously towards the dragon. -
Nuri: Elaro! Don’t!
Elaro: I’ll make you pay!
- The dragon, who has been keeping one close eye on you, swats Elaro away like a fly with a single flick of his nail. -
???: Begone, you knave!
- Elaro screams as he sails in a random direction.
Jimon: Hey, dragon! That was certainly uncalled for! Who do you think you are anyway!?
- The dragon snorts and chuckles mischievously at Jimon -
???: I am Figar, the warrior of fire. I do not take orders from low lives like you, egg. I rather crush them and eat them for breakfast.
- Jimon puffs up, infuriated at Figar -
Jimon: I am not an egg! I am a full-grown dragon!
- Figar laughs at Jimon -
Figar: You call yourself a dragon!? More like a mutated chicken egg!
- Jimon stomps on the ground furiously. -
Jimon: I’m not an egg! I’m a dragon! A full-grown dragon! Don’t you dare call me an egg!
Figar: Hmm... egg!
- Jimon charges at Figar with all his might -
Jimon: Why I outta-!
- Nuri runs over towards Jimon to try to stop him -
Nuri: Jimon, stop! He’s just toying with you! He’s messing with your head!
- Jimon is casted aside by Figar’s tail, and Jimon sails in a different random direction. -
Figar: What do you know of me, little girl? I am a dragon... a true dragon... who loves to play tricks, bask in gold and riches of valuables! A dragon who loves to oppress his servants, and take orders from nobody but himself! This is what a dragon should be!
- Nuri shakes her head. -
Nuri: You’re wrong! Dragons are friends! They are nice and kind, and help us out! They are selfless and innocent! Only a bad tamer makes a bad dragon!
- Figar scoffs in disgust. -
Figar: Only a dragon who befriends a human makes a bad dragon! A dragon who commits its time, its well-being, its life, makes it weak. A dragon like this should be dealt with no sympathy. A weak dragon is a dead dragon.
Nuri: You’re wrong!
- Figar stands up from his resting spot, and begins to head in your direction -
Figar: It disgusts me to the core when a dragon serves a human.
Nuri: You should feel ashamed...
Figar: If you believe that a dragon... who serves the lowest of the low of all creatures... a human... can still be strong, you got a lot of nerve.
- Nuri begins to sniffle as she speaks -
Nuri: Humans can be strong... we’ve got... friends.
Figar: Friends that will turn their backs on you when it suits their purpose.
Nuri: You’re wrong...
Figar: Then prove it! Prove that a dragon still has power even in the midst of a human soul... by defeating me!
- You ask Figar the conditions of the battle -
Figar: If you win, I’ll believe every word you said, including that useless egg Jimon. But if you lose, I’ll take your soul... your pride... your joy... your dragons.
- You accept Figar’s conditions. -
Nuri: No...!
Figar: I shall enjoy tearing your dragons to shreds. En garde!

Scene 3:

Scene Location: Frozen Lake

- Figar collapses in a heap. -
Figar: (I’ve... I’ve been defeated...)
- Figar takes a good look at you as if he’s never seen human potential before. -
Figar: (But, how... how could I lose to a creature that is so... weak?)
Figar: (Could it be... the human potential to grow?)
- All of a sudden, a black smoke begins to materialize behind Figar. -
???: It’s because you are weak!
- Figar’s eyes open wide, as if he had seen a ghost -
Figar: Master!!!
???: It’s because you are weak, old one. And weaklings... must... die!
- Figar begins to panic and tremble in fear. -
Figar: No, my master... NO!!!
- Figar’s body severs into two halves, and then disintegrates into oblivion, leaving behind an egg of his former self -
- The black smoke cackles villainously. -
Nuri: You... you monster! Who are you?
- The black smoke continues to cackle -
???: You shall soon see, young girl! You shall soon see...
- The black smoke vanishes without a trace. -
- Elaro comes out from behind some bushes holding his head, while Jimon sits up from his brief nap. -
Jimon: Did you get him?
Nuri: Yeah, but his master killed him.
Elaro: Good riddance! Teaches him not to mess with my daughter.
- Nuri begins to sob. -
Elaro: What’s her problem?
- You tell Elaro what just occurred -
Elaro: That’s a shame. But there’s nothing we can do now except press forward. Onward to Glacier Peak!
- You nod and pick up the lone dragon egg that had tragically been stripped from Figar by his master, and follow Elaro. -

{Upon completing this Scenario, you are rewarded with a Figar dragon egg, and Glacier Peak is unlocked for traveling.}
